Goals


The general goals for this class include:

1. Understand the fundamentals of sound.

2. Become proficient (construct complex sounds) using at least TWO of the following types of sound synthesis:

- Additive (Fourier)
-
FM
-
Subtractive
-
Wave Shaping
-
Wave Table
-
Granular

3. Create ubiquitous sound effects (bells, sirens, telephones, etc.).

4. Compose a short electro-acoustic music composition.

5. Add sound tracks to a QuickTime move.

6. Become proficient in a simple algorithmic programming language which automatically generates musical sounds.

7. Understand the fundamentals of MIDI.
